Our first chronicle

,
Where to start this story, because although it may be our first chronicle that doesn’t mean there is little to tell. Before we even started the production of the magazine there has been a year of active and low-profile thinking on how to shape this name and organisation.

The symbol of the bull was actually the starting point for this company, the bull and the child on his back keeping it in control, more about that symbol later. First, we zoom out even more. Where do you begin when you can start with a clean sheet, how do you want your fundamentals to look if you have the time and possibility to choose? I have to say, we do believe in evolution and we sincerely hope that we can look back on this prologue and say; we are glad that we have grown so much in our way of thinking, speech, inclusiveness and goodwill, but for now, we want to share with you how we would like to start.

First and foremost these words, people of the future, positive impact, two-way communication, bull in check, statements yet (later this became; enlightment through) entertainment. These keywords are the synopsis of the very first concepts put on paper. Whereas people of the future stand for the choice to mostly focus on teenagers, young adults running up to people touching thirty as they will shortly be in charge of this world. With them, we feel like, we can speak and learn from and with. We always will listen to our elderly and with them their experience but these are the people that will soon be in charge of this planet and are for the coming years the ones that we feel are more open for discussion, change of morals and a two-way manner of learning.

With that mindset also comes a responsibility to honour those promises in the best way possible. To achieve such a thing that involves respecting, and writing from, different points of view and cultures. We not only are in need of writers with an open mindset, we actually very much desire people that can correct us, or personally write from their own particular origin and with their different perspectives, to fully commence to that ideology.
As we are starting out small we are forced to narrow it down to reviewers with different backgrounds, genders and cultures but we aspire to have a diverse writing team when the size of the magazine and the interest of the people will let us. This idea goes hand in hand with the possibility of two-way communication with our followers, to read more about this go to the culture & input page.

With the pilar of positive impact, we decided that we always want to contribute to a planet one that goes one positive step forward from its current state. We see owning a company as a loan, we have to repay with interest what we take from the natural world.
Furthermore, we will be writing from a point of inclusiveness towards people but also their cultures and write from a less anthropocentric point of view.

Keeping the bull in check has, from moment one, been a synonym for our idea of letting our product and statements, always serve as a tool to try to control or open up conversations with corporations, governments, institutes or powerful individuals, that look at this world with a point of view largely considered ethically wrong, or even damage our surroundings and inhabitants. Hence our logo and name.
Enlightment
Before we even sorted out what product we wanted to put out to the world we already agreed on one thing, our product would besides being from minimal waste to the world, also carry the power of entertainment and the possibilities to make social, political, environmental, mental statements.
After we decided on the magazine, as we didn’t like to produce a consumption product or a product that would spark useless consumerism, we created a new cornerstone for ourselves based on the prior reason why we opted for the magazine, enlightenment.

"We wanted to be a source of creative enlightenment, that dealt with great global-impact issues, news, philosophy and life rambles in an inventive but analog way that would pull young people from the digital world to the paper as they entered a rejuvenating environment of written words, designs and subjects that would be a source for enlightenment and entertainment." This idea went hand in hand with the concept of the bull, the rebellious undertone of the magazine as a centrepiece for our new company. Alongside with the impimentation of slow-journalism and the search for justice creates a vibrant mix.

This also led to a few challenges to be solved by our team. How can we keep a state of neutral journalism and maintain a safe pace within our community for everyone that feels a bit lost in some way can find peace within our ideology, when we, at the same time are provoking largely considered unethical individuals, companies or governments in perhaps sometimes offensive ways. We would like to start with two things that should help separate or rather protect these two entities of our company from one another. The first is the use of special markings in the magazine, highlighting when an article, column or ramble of any sort is written from a disrupting point of view with a clear opinion rather than facts. Separating such articles from exactly the opposite when a piece is highlighted as a work based on academic research, authenticated news or scientific, historical or socio-political facts. Second, we would like to use a similar type of colour, label or marker that serves as a warning on our communication on posters, with stickers, on the internet or via social media platforms. This for serving the same purpose, persevering two strong identities in our company from one another that for some people may go hand in hand but others but for others are a requirement to feel at comfort.

To round this extensive but necessary first prologue to our company’s story up, we want to note that this webpage will not be the only way we will distribute our first thoughts and ideas. There will be made use of various digital platforms as well as real-life sites where we will promote the concepts that shape for us the appropriate foundation of our company. We prefer to have it all laid out, outlined, right here and now in text, as it forms a sort of manifesto, a promise that we, from the very moment of publication have to comply with. To do so we will always act according to our very best endeavour through the use of our community, a sympathetic ear, and everything that lies in our creative abilities, and perhaps just a bit beyond to make things work.
